Where the obsession starts.
Whiskey Romeo❤️

02/06/2026

This makes my ❤️ so happy!
We got Whiskey Romeo who is a retired racehorse with past winnings around 4 mil. He is a greagreat grand of secretariat.
I didn’t get back into horses to “rescue or rehab”. But when I saw whiskey I knew I wanted to bring him home. He was Labeled “FREE” and came with an emotional support goat. 😂
His feet were in rough shape and the previous owner let his feet over grow, flare and distort with front shoes on. This caused his coffin bone to distort and his heal to collapse.
I had his shoes pulled Oct. 6 and the pads that he had on with those shoes were paper thin. The feet pics in the comments are what we started with. He was well overdue for foot care. He could not walk comfortably and was on and off hobbling.
I went through 3 FARRIERS from sept-now. Two unreliable and one that didn’t know what he was doing. He could hardly walk and was also losing apetite which had him losing weight. He just wasnt a happy fello and i started to feel like i wasnt helping him and bit off more than i could take on.
The two that worked on his feet had him so screwed up. He has been on stall rest for over a month. He has not been able to walk let alone run since Nov. My farrier flaked on me for the last time and I found one that is truly remarkable and knowledgeable in what we are trying to achieve.
I wish i would have gotten a before video of him trying to move around because this after had me almost in tears. I can’t wait for the vet to see him again because she won’t believe it’s the same horse. We are not out of the woods yet. As rehab is a long slow road. But seeing him moving around. Running and jumping gives me hope for his future.

Goal
For 2026 post and share more!

This page started out as cakes only. Laughters Kitchen as some might remember and we lived on fort Carson for 5 years.
My military husband retires in roughly 4 years and so we bought property in the country just south of Fort Carson.
With the move I needed to adjust my side business.
We have 40 acres and very quickly filled our ranch with animals!
Laughters Kitchen became Laughter’s Ranch. And now we offer a variety of services.

I still do cakes but few and far between mostly repeat customers.
We have farm fresh chicken eggs, full care Horse boarding and western beginner riding lessons.
We may offer trail rides for couples and we have done a few pony parties for friends and family.

When our family was stationd at Fort Riley i opperated a photography studio. I have done photography for over 10 years and still offer those services. Feel free to check my work at Dark Horse Studio (DHS)

I thought a post to share how we got here as I know it can be confusing scrolling and seeing farm animals and cakes. 😂.

I remember going through my 20’s wanting everything new. Everything easy and at my fingertips.
As I have gotten older I miss the time spent with loved ones as a kid canning and enjoying home grown foods, canned and cooked with family.
I gravitate more now towards “old fashioned” things. I enjoy spending time preparing canned goods and baking for my family. It also makes me feel good knowing every single ingredient that is put in the food I make. This isn’t to say I don’t get some chicken nuggets from the store now and then🤪. But I try to do less processed and more Whole Foods cooked and prepared at home.

Saying all that brings me to the point of this post. Would anyone like to learn how to make bread or prepare canned goods for their family? I would love to put a day together. Bring the kids and let them run feral while we can and bake in the kitchen!
I will be canning apple butter, apple sauce and apple slices in the coming weeks! Last year I made enough to last all year!
