From the depths of my heart, Happy Pride Month! 🌈

I hope one day, I don’t feel the need to say this, but ALL are welcome here. I have unfortunately witnessed discrimination in our marketplace.

As a Realtor, one of the most important parts of my job is making sure every person I work with is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. Everyone should have the opportunity to build wealth and security in homeownership.

Under the federal Fair Housing Act, it is illegal to discriminate in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, s*x, familial status, or disability.

That is the legal standard, but it is my opinion that it’s the obvious and decent one.

My business is a safe and welcoming place for LGBTQ+ clients, families, friends, and neighbors. I believe real estate professionals should open doors, not decide who gets to go through them.

Fair housing matters in June.
It matters every month.
And it matters in every single transaction. 🏡🌈

If you feel you have been treated unfairly because of your status under any of the protected classes, I am so sorry and I’d love to hear more about your experiences. I may be able to help, but I would also love the chance to learn.

You should have received your updated property assessment and tax statements. Fun stuff! I don't know anyone who didn't have an increase. I sure did 🫣

While it's nice to know that your property is appreciating, no one wants to pay more in taxes.
If you feel your assessment is too high, there is an appeal process. I have done it myself and helped lots of other homeowners with theirs.

If you submit an appeal and it is denied, they cannot raise your assessment. So the worst case is you learn a little more about your home's value and your taxes stay the same for the year. Best case, they may amend your assessed value and you save some money!
