New band out of Fort Wayne, Indiana! GROUNDS
07/07/2024
This past week was a busy one for us, but we loved every second of it! Last Sunday, we played Amberlight’s album release show with Frog Tongue! Wednesday, we made our Indy debut at Melody Inn with Everroad and DownShift Music! We want to give a big thanks to everyone involved with that show and putting us on, we had a lot of fun! Then, we ended it all last night with the toga party with our friends in Contrøller, Wolves Of Oz, and Withered Veins! It was an amazing show, we will have to do it again soon! Thanks for everyone who came and supported us and the other acts at these shows, it means a lot!

Attention cool cats, cat kings, and Nat King Coles! In preparation for our upcoming record, GROUNDS wants to know YOUR first record. What was the first album/cd/cassette you purchased with your own money? Do you still like it? Does it hold a place in your heart to this day? Let us know! Alex's first ever album is Move Along by the All American Rejects.
"The first record I ever bought was Move Along by The All-American Rejects. My brother and I bought it out of the Scholastic Bookfair catalog and I listened to that CD a lot! It is a deeply nostalgic record and I think it holds up incredibly well! It Ends Tonight still gets stuck in my head regularly."

Calling all cool cats!
We have a bit of a double post to share here. First we would like to share that we have a new member. Cody Brooks will be giving us a hand with rhythm and leads of both 6 and 4 string variety, bringing us up to a four piece. We're hoping this will allow us to add a lot more layers to our live experience.
With that being said, it should be noted that Cody has a favorite debut album as well.
"This one shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows me. Kill 'em All wasn't my first Metallica record, but I spent much of my early years playing guitar banging my head against the wall learning riffs from this classic. Not a perfect album by any means, but still one of my favorites!"
Everyone give Cody a warm meow, or whatever we're expecting our cool cats to do.

We have had an excellent time recording over the last few days and are very proud of the album we are creating! Today we have CJ’s favorite debut record to share with you guys! His pick for favorite debut is Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. Cj goes on to state:
"Obviously everyone knows the singles from this album. It's hard to create so many hits on an album, let alone a debut album. When I got my first copy of this record it quickly became a prefect record to me. In my opinion, it does not have a single track to be skipped, It also has my favorite track from the band's discography with 'A Place for My Head.

We just finished a great day 1 of recording at Chipped Tooth Audio! We're excited to carry that momentum into day 2 amd start putting our debut record together.
Speaking of debut records... continuing with our prompt from yesterday our bass player Logan picked his favorite debut album. Panic! At The Disco's "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out"
Logan: "A Fever You Can't sweat out is the first album I remember connecting to on a personal level. I was never into musicals or plays as a kid, and I suppose this scratched that same itch. Listening to and singing along AFYCSO was one of the ways I could be expressive and campy at a time where I didn't feel safe coming out of the closet."
What's your favorite debut record?

Greetings friends,
We have been quiet. For that we apologize. We had a wonderful year in 2023 getting to play with a lot of friends new and old. This year, we hope to start focusing on bigger and better things! We would like to start playing out of town and working on our new album! Starting tomorrow, we are working with Chipped Tooth Audio to start recording our first full length album. In celebration of this album, the band would like to start sharing some of our favorite albums with you, starting with our singer Tilly's choice for his favorite debut record:
"Ten was the first ever perfect album I discovered. I knew the singles already and found my older brothers CD and decided to give it a listen. I was completely gripped by the album from the first song to the last."
We'd love it if you would share your favorites with us as well! What's your favorite debut record?
