Our Family Support Team is busy preparing for Utility Assistance season! Also known as the Energy Assistance Program (EAP), this program requires many hours of training to ensure our team is ready to serve the community and help connect households with assistance for winter heating costs.

Applications for the 2027 program year open October 1, 2026.

Brightpoint is accepting proposals from qualified contractors to provide furnace and wood stove repair and replacement services for the Emergency Repair and Replace (ERR) Program for eligible low-income households.

The ERR Program services the following counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley.

Contractors must be qualified to install, repair, and replace furnaces and wood stoves in emergency energy crisis situations.

Bid packets may be requested by contacting Brightpoint at (260) 423-3546 ext. 263 or by email at maryharris@mybrightpoint or with “Bid Packet” in the subject line.

HIP Work Requirements are coming. Starting Jan. 1, 2027, if you’re 19–64 and not exempt, you must complete 80 hours/month through work, classes, training, or volunteer service. Learn more at myfssa.in.gov

It’s time to check your voter registration! Even if none of the situations below apply to you, it's a good idea to double-check your registration status. You can also help a younger friend or relative get registered or assist a senior you care about with requesting an absentee ballot.

✔ Have you recently moved?
✔ Did you turn 18 since the last election?
✔ Have you never voted before?
✔ Did you change your name?

Deadline to register for the upcoming midterm election in Indiana is October 5, 2026.

Lakeisha, a new mother, found herself facing housing challenges during a critical time for her and her infant son. After reaching out to Brightpoint, she was connected with Kirstyn Stratton and the PIHPP program.

The Perinatal and Infant Homelessness Prevention Pilot Program (PIHPP) is a partnership between the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation and Ascension Foundation to help pregnant women and families with infants avoid housing instability through one-time financial assistance delivered by community partners like Brightpoint.

For Lakeisha, the assistance went far beyond financial support. She described Kirstyn as a trusted source of encouragement and stability during a difficult chapter in her life. Because of the support she received, Lakeisha was able to secure stable housing for herself and her son and move forward with greater confidence and peace of mind.

Stories like Lakeisha's remind us that preventing homelessness is often about providing the right support at the right moment. Through partnerships like PIHPP, and the dedication of staff members like Kirstyn, Brightpoint is helping families build stability, strengthen their futures, and give children the healthy start they deserve.
