📢 After 46 years of dedication, leadership, and service, we are honored to celebrate the retirement of Bill Neikirk, Design Supervisor at our Salem, VA facility. 🎉

Well before New Millennium's acquisition of the company in 2006, Bill began his career in the steel industry working for John W. Hancock Steel in Salem, VA in 1980. Throughout the decades, Bill played a critical role in helping the company adapt and grow through significant changes.

As AutoCAD emerged in the '80s, Bill became a teacher for an entire generation of designers. He helped bridge the gap between traditional drafting and modern technology – teaching everything from DOS commands and AutoCAD fundamentals to custom routines and efficiencies that helped the department evolve. He held training sessions, shared knowledge freely, and worked to ensure everyone around him succeeded.

Bill's impact extends far beyond the projects he completed. His patience and ability to teach helped shape countless careers in the industry. Bill not only believed in helping others grow and making the entire team better, but he also brought something else to the office every day: humor, friendship, and camaraderie.

Moving into retirement, Bill takes with him nearly half a century of knowledge and experience. There is no replacing the wisdom that comes from 46 years of dedication to a craft. Yet, his greatest contribution is not the knowledge he carries with him—it is the knowledge he leaves behind in the people he taught, mentored, and inspired.

Those with Team Salem sum it up best: When someone spends 46 years building a career, they leave a position behind. When someone spends 46 years building people, they leave a legacy. ✨
