After months of backlash from Hyde Park residents, developers for a controversial development now plan to hit the reset button.

The project's developers asked Cincinnati City Council members to repeal the zoning that was approved for the project earlier this year.

Julie Mastin held the "Be The Light" event Saturday at Clepper Park. Mastin's daughter, Caylee, died by su***de in 2023. Saturday would have been her 18th birthday.

Mastin said the event wasn't just a celebration of Caylee's life; it was also an opportunity for people to openly talk about their own mental health.

"I've had my own struggles with it, so I just want to see people heal," Mastin said.

North College Hill City Schools Superintendent Eugene Blalock Jr. told us it was "disappointing (and) disheartening" to witness parents encourage students to fight one another on the second day of classes.

While he said the district works to prevent situations like that from happening, "the disconnect is when they go home and they see or they hear their parents saying, 'Hey, it's OK to fight.'"
