Every day is a great day to support Kitties & Kanines Shelter. But today is their birthday! Can you donate a little for the great big good the clinic does for all of us, human and animal?

We have now been open 2 years and have served over 4,200 stray and abandoned animals. A big thank you to the city of Fort Smith and all who have donated to us! Your support has made every life saved possible.

Firefighters will observe 9/11 with a solemn remembrance tomorrow. The public is invited.

On Saturday, 9/11/2021, the City invites the public to attend the City's annual 9/11 commemoration at Fire Station #1, where the City of Fort Smith Fire Department's Honor Guard will raise the U.S. flag at sunrise (6:50 a.m.), and then lower it to half-staff. Afterward, the Honor Guard will ring the fire bell in three intervals, commemorating the three tragic events which occurred at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The fire bell ringing will occur at the following intervals:

· 7:46 am (Flight 11 hits North Tower)
· 8:03 am (Flight 175 hits South Tower)
· 8:37 am (Flight 77 hits Pentagon)
· 8:59 am (South Tower collapses)
· 9:03 am (Flight 93 crashes in Shanksville)
· 9:28 am (North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses).

After the final bell ringing, Battalion Chief Tery Graves with the Fort Smith Firefighters Pipe and Drum Corps will play Amazing Grace.
