On Friday, April 14th, 5 students from FRMS JAG-K went to the Social Impact Lab put on by the Kansas State University. This first year event was a great opportunity for the students to gain insight on the different careers in the social services as well as being able to participate in a panel discussion with students from K-State.
The students got to network with other area students, "build a brain" using positive, tolerable, and toxic stress, practice conflict resolution, learn about police technology such as polygraphs and radioactive detectors, learn about addiction counseling, sand tray therapy, a campus tour and MUCH more.
Ms. Becky even came to check it out!
Thanks K-State for the opportunity and we look forward to bringing even more students next year.

On Tuesday, FRMS JAG-K was honored to have Ryan
McMillan, Community Bank President of United Bank and Trust, come visit and tell us all about the banking industry. Mr. McMillan was a great presenter and the students enjoyed having him stop by. The students were engaged and had great questions!
April 13-17 is JAGK and the KBA Week.

On Wednesday, 3 of the FRMS JAG-K students competed at the Career Development Conference state competition. This competition gives the students a chance to show off their hard work and compete against other JAG-K students from around the state.
Of the 3 students who qualified for state, all 3 medaled!!!
Thomas Twitty's t shirt design earned him 4th place. Thomas won 1st place at our local t shirt design contest and that meant his entry was sent on to regionals. He made the top 4 at regionals and was awarded 4th at the state competition.
Isabell Gibbs won 2nd place in Employability Skills. Isabell made up a cover letter and resume and sent that to the regional competition. She made the top 4 at regionals and was invited to compete at state. During the state competition her resume/cover letter were judged again and she completed a professional job interview. 2nd place was the result!!
Gavin Massey won 1st place in Financial Literacy. All of the JAG-K students took a financial literacy test in class, with the highest score getting to advance. Gavin had the highest score at FRMS and completed the regional financial literacy test. Scoring high enough on that to advance to State, Gavin competed against students from Kiowa County, Great Bend, and Winfield. The competition was tough but Gavin made it through with 1st place!
These are all 1st year JAG-K students in what is basically a new program. None of them had competed in events like these before and they stepped up to the challenge.
To say I am proud of these kids is an understatement. You all have worked very hard all year and it definitely paid off.
Congratulations!!!

On Saturday FRMS JAG-K students had the opportunity to volunteer at the Special Olympics Basketball Competition at Junction City High School. This was an amazing event allowing special needs individuals the chance to compete against each other. Thank you to VP's Izzy Gibbs and CJ Raby for volunteering and to Andy Harper, who is not a JAG-K student, but volunteered to help anyway.
Proud of you all.
Go Troopers!
