The crown jewel of our community. The historic Hendry-Bartleson home was built in 1910 for newly weds, Bertha Gould and Fred Earl Hendry, the granson of Francis Asbury Hendry aka "The Father of Fort Myers". The builder, Manuel Gonzalez was a renowned builder in the area. The house was late purchased in 1922 by city commissioner and successful wholesale grocer Charles Warren Bartleson and wife, Lura Alice Pound. Its hard to imagine but the property once had a barn, windmill, and horses! Masterfully restored and preserved.

Trash or Treasure? Beauty or Eyesore? Whatever you might call it, our area certainly lost a landmark. The strip mall turned flea market was built in the 1940’s was recently demolished after falling into disrepair. Lou’s Little Flea Market operated in that location from 1969 to 2014.
