Fort Mill Fire Department
The Mission of the Fort Mill Fire Department is to be safe, efficient, and effective with the available resources in all that we do.
We strive to provide superior quality service to the entire community. The Fort Mill Fire Department was established in 1915 as a result of a large downtown fire. The department remained fully volunteer until December 1994 when the first paid firefighters was hired by the Town of Fort Mill. As the town has grown, the department has grown in turn. Today, we respond to approximately 2,500 emergency

Happy Father’s Day from the Fort Mill Fire Department!
Today, we celebrate all the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and father figures who make a difference in the lives of their families and our community.
Many of our firefighters and staff proudly serve in two important roles—protecting the citizens of Fort Mill while also being dedicated dads at home. Whether they’re responding to emergencies, attending school events, coaching a team, or helping with homework, their commitment to service extends far beyond the fire station.
Thank you to all the fathers who lead by example, make sacrifices for their families, and inspire the next generation through their strength, compassion, and dedication.
We wish all the dads in our community a safe, happy, and well-deserved Father’s Day!

🧑🚒Faces of Fort Mill- Waites Waller🧯
Protecting life and property are always top of mind for this week’s The Faces of Fort Mill spotlight employee. Meet Waites Waller, a firefighter with the Fort Mill Fire Department.
During his year with the Town, Waller said his days have always focused on staying ready for emergency response.
“We start each day by checking equipment and making sure everything is in order. Throughout the day, we train, work as a team and stay physically active,” Waller said. “We also maintain the station and keep things organized. When needed, we respond quickly to calls and work together to help the community.”
🚒Public Service Inspiration: “I wanted to go into public service because I’ve always cared about helping people. The fire department stood out to me because it gives me the chance to be there for others when they really need it and make a real difference in my community.”
🤝Family Matters: “What I enjoy most about my job is the sense of family within the department. Everyone looks out for each other, and there’s a strong bond of trust and teamwork. It feels good to be part of a group that works so closely together.”
👍His Proudest Accomplishment: “One accomplishment I’m proud of is how much I’ve grown since starting in the fire service. I’ve improved my skills, learned to work better under pressure and become more confident in my role.”
Why He♥️FM: “I really enjoy being downtown, especially during our Town events.”
Making a Difference: “I see our work make an impact almost every day. Sometimes it is on calls or just being out in the community!”
💎Waites’ Hidden FM Gem: “A hidden gem to me is the Fort Mill Family Restaurant!”
Fire Department Fun Fact: “A fun little fact is that our fire hydrants have different colors to let us know how much water we can get out of them!”
😊Final Words: “I just want to thank the residents of Fort Mill for the trust they place in us. That is a big honor, and we’re here for you whenever you need us.”
