Congratulations to Kristy Volesky on her well-deserved promotion to Deputy Chief of Police with Fort Collins Police Services!

Kristy is an exceptional leader whose professionalism, compassion, and commitment to serving others make a lasting impact throughout our community. In addition to her distinguished law enforcement career, she serves as President of the Realities For Children Board of Directors, where her experience, vision, and dedication help guide our mission of supporting vulnerable children across Northern Colorado.

After more than three decades in law enforcement—including 30 years of service to the Fort Collins community—Chief Swoboda has selected Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky to be our next Deputy Chief! 👏

Kristy leads with professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to serving others. She has held the role of Assistant Chief in each of our three operational divisions, providing guidance and support to officers, staff, and community members alike. Her dedication extends beyond FCPS through years of community involvement, including a decade of service on the Board of Directors for Realities for Children Inc. Kristy is passionate about strengthening victim-centered services, supporting employee wellness, and building meaningful relationships throughout our community. Her leadership philosophy is reflected in one of her favorite Maya Angelou quotes: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget the way you made them feel.”

While summer break has just begun, we're already preparing to support local children in need for the 2025–2026 school year. Every year, Realities For Children provides brand new 17” backpacks filled with new school supplies to youth in Northern Colorado who have experienced abuse, neglect, or are at risk. Our Back to School Supply collection kicks off June 10! With your help, we can make sure they start the school year off prepared and feeling confident.
