The Tuesday 11:30 Mid D and multi-sport crew nailed π¨ this session! Blend of pulling to help reinforce good pacing and fin work to teach a sustainable and supportive kick. Then some pace changes with the Fartlek style 100βs and finish up with a draft party.
DAB - Double Arm Backstroke which is great for loosening up between sets.
Fartlek - Swedish for βspeed play,β isΒ a flexible, continuous training method mixing fast, high-intensity with slow recovery. While we used a fixed distance with the 100βs the goal was to get the swimmers moving fast and teach them how to better use active recovery between fast efforts.
Draft Party - repeat 25βs where swimmers leave the wall almost immediately on the feet of the swimmer ahead of them. Great practice for open water races and swimmers will rotate to feel the differences between leading and the added benefit of drafting.
