A monster-loving quilter bringing you modern gothic twists on sewing classics!

07/05/2024

Heading to a quilting/crafting retreat tomorrow and I always have EPIC plans and must pack accordingly! Will this be enough for all the projects I want to work on? Maaaaybe. But also, there’s always something I wish I had with me and forgot to pack! Plus, as a scrappy quilter, I really just wish I had my whole stash with me at every retreat, but alas, that’s impossible, so hopefully this will do!! I’m bringing lots of scraps too! Let’s see what I get done!

Third round of Quilt Fest pics! It was fun seeing a group of our together from our workshop with ! There were so many gorgeous quilts and I definitely didn’t take pictures of everything because I kept getting distracted looking at all the talent but just know that I loved each and every one of them! Great job !!

More pics from Quilt Fest! This first pic features not only my sister and me, but also a quilt made by the first quilter in my family, my Great-Grandma, Rita Bartley. She hand-pieced and hand-tied the quilt on the right. Hanging to the left of it is my Rising Star quilt, the third quilt top I ever pieced and then it sat in a pile of unfinished quilts in my sewing room until last year, when my nephew, Tyler, longarm quilted it for me with this amazing angler fish design. (I tried to tag the ones I either knew or grabbed pictures of the tag but sorry to those I couldn’t tag!)

Here’s my third block for Left-Center-Right game!

Who you gonna call?! Here’s my second block for Left-Center-Right game at the next guild meeting!

is playing Left-Center-Right at our next guild meeting with blocks that are “Black and White and Red All Over” so I made a few blocks! On an unrelated note: For some reason I am getting an error when I try to like posts or comment on Instagram posts. The message I get says “We restrict certain activity to protect our community.” Could you please let me know if you’ve had this problem and how it got fixed? I sent a message to Instagram about it but haven’t heard back. It’s been happening for a handful of days now. I’m also telling you this because it means I won’t be able to like your comments or respond to them which totally bums me out. My favorite thing about Instagram is being able to interact with the quilt community. Feel free to DM me if you have questions or info that can help because I can still respond to DMs. Thank you, my friends!

Finished the top! Such a quick, fun make. It’s just what I needed to get some sewjo back. And it’s a UFO off my list! I’m going to donate this one to my guild’s charity quilting program where we donate to a hospital’s ICU unit for patients being sent home on palliative care.

Working on a string quilt! This is the first string quilt I’ve tried and it’s been on my to-make list forever. The blocks are so quick to make! Especially when anything goes and I can just pull from all my strips I already have cut in my stash of scraps!

I made a miniature tree skirt for my guild’s white elephant gift exchange at our holiday party! I recently acquired this insanely adorable Rancor and Luke plushie set so I thought I’d let them model the tree skirt because they’re way cute than a tree. The last picture is to show they made fast friends with the Creech, obviously. The pattern is the by and I just shrunk it down and whipped up a quick template for the size I wanted in EQ8.

I’m excited to announce that at the guild meeting last night, I was elected as the President of the Fort Collins Modern Quilt Guild for 2024-2025! Thank you to my guild mates for your support! This is going to be a fun adventure! 😂
