Steven Kuzik spent more than two decades saving lives as a firefighter, and yesterday on his way to work, he was struck head on by a driver that veered into his lane. He didn't survive the crash.

Steve was awarded Firefighter of the Year for the Greeley Fire Department two years ago and described by Greeley Fire Chief, Dale Lyman, as "one of those guys every respected and loved...and really, truly loved being a firefighter."

The person responsible has been arrested.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the 21 year veteran firefighter who lost his life yesterday in the hit-and-run accident.

Washington House Bill 1014 has been officially signed into law, which will require every motorcyclist to carry liability insurance. Uninsured and Underinsured coverage will be optional, but you must sign a waiver if you elect not to purchase that insurance option.

This new law goes into effect 90 days after the adjournment of the 2019 legislative session.

We all know riding a motorcycle has its dangers, but doing a quick pre-ride check over my bike and gear before riding is an easy way to eliminate the ones within my immediate control: fluid leaks, tires, lights, levers, fuel, loose shoe/boot laces, helmet buckle and gloves. Some riders do a lot more, some do a lot less, but we all have our system.

If you're new to riding, find a system that works best for you, your bike and your gear, and do it every time! The one time you don't do it will be the one time you should have.

What's your pre-ride checklist?

The video is pretty intense, but nobody was seriously injured. Stay safe out there!
