It’s been awhile since I posted on here, but I’m crazy active over on Instagram if you want to catch up!

That’s right, I’m back in Florida friends! We spent Halloween by surprising family with our return and spending quality time together. Special shoutout to @sensory5 for an amazing 12 years of brilliant clients and a wonderfully diverse range of projects. Another shoutout to @alisawantsyoutowin for offering an accountability group that has helped me gain clarity and traction in my illustration practice, leading to one of my most productive months in years!

2022 has been a such a tremendous year for creative growth with so many significant milestones! Posting this #artvsartist022 so I can look back a year from now to see how I have developed as a professional illustrator and designer. ✨ I let go of the need for vector and let myself get lost in a world of texture and pixels. This has changed everything, including my style, workflow, and outlook on digital art in general. ✨ Daily creating led to participation in so many IG challenges and the community support has been absolutely amazing! ✨ Continued my educational journey by completing 25 Skillshare classes this year, with another 15 still in progress. Discovered several creative entrepreneur podcasts and joined a Collection Club. ✨ Designed tons of branding packages and exciting campaigns at Sensory 5. I love that I am able to help business owners share their passion and products with the public in creative and effective ways. ✨ Volunteered as VP of Communications for the Junior League of Fort Collins and met so many inspiring and beautiful souls, all working together for the Northern Colorado community. ✨ I launched my illustration brand, Sharon Fruit Design, and 2023 has big goals on the horizon as I lean into partnerships, collaborations, licensing and commissions. ✨ Illustrated my first complete surface pattern collection along with several mini collections and have begun the pitching process!

The first time I ate a persimmon is a strong memory for me. I was very little as I watched my mom slice into the skin, it was extra ripe and juicy. She handed me the slice and we each took a bite, and the most unique flavor and texture exploded in my mouth. Her smile was big and kind as she said, “On Tu Bishvat we always try something new.”

As an exchange student in Denmark I discovered that one of my favorite fruits, the persimmon, was actually named sharonfrugt — literally “Sharon Fruit” in English! I had to learn more about this delicious juicy treat. That’s when I discovered that the Sharon Fruit is a type of persimmon from Israel, a sister to the Asian varieties that we see in most American grocery stores. I immediately became just a little bit more enamored with the unique little plant.

So when I made the decision to create a brand for my art, one that was all me and separate from my graphic design career, I instantly knew that the little orange Sharon Fruit was where to start.

Now it’s time to make some art!
