Last night, the City Council approved the proposed plan from University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service and the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas for approximately $140,000 to promote active lifestyles in St. Francis County and to make significant improvements to Beech Grove Park. Improvements include:

Walking Track
Funding has been secured for the construction of an asphalt walking track at Beech Grove Park. The track will circle the playground equipment, leaving the outer field area free for activities such as kickball, soccer, baseball, or a free play area. The walking track will be approximately 800 feet long and 8 feet wide.

The plan also includes:
• 6 paved parking spaces
• Playground Equipment
• Funding has also been secured for new playground
equipment to replace older, broken pieces on the
existing playground at Beech Grove Park.
• Items to Keep and Refurbish (Refer to Attachments
C and D):
• Item A—Keep the existing swing frame. Replace swings with ADA compliant swings.
• Add ADA compliant pad and border with ramps.
• Item C—Keep the existing swing frame. Install new chains and seats. Install border and mulch.
• Item G—Keep the existing play system. Repair or replace border. Add mulch.
• Item H—Keep the existing play dome. Install border and mulch.

• Unlabeled item—Keep bench frames and replace backs and seats.

New Equipment
• Item B—ADA compliant swing bars with ADA compliant padding and border with ramps.
• Item D—New swing with border and mulch.
• Item E—2 new slides with border and mulch.
• Item F—New climbing system with border and mulch.
• Item I—New toddler play area with border and mulch.
