Our words matter. Words can wound people, damage reputations, spread fear, stir division, and spread things that are not truth. The Bible even teaches that just because something may be true does not mean it should be said. We are to speak words that are edifying, gracious, wise, and governed by the Spirit of God — not simply whatever comes to mind in the moment.
As believers we must judge our words by the Word of God, not by the culture around us. We should ask ourselves: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it loving? Does it help or harm? Does it reflect Christ?
