Have you ever grown a Paw Paw Tree?

If you haven’t… this is your sign to add TWO to your food forest!

The Paw Paw Tree is one of the coolest native fruit trees you can grow. It produces a fruit that tastes like it came straight from the tropics, think a mix between mango, banana, and a little bit of custard.

Not only are paw paws beautiful and unique, they are also low-maintenance once established and a perfect addition to a native food forest or backyard orchard. They create gorgeous shade, support wildlife, and reward you with delicious, nutrient-rich fruit. They do require two to pollinate, these are grafted and no need to cover during a freeze, even with snow!

AND here’s one of my favorite parts…
The Paw Paw Tree is the host plant for the Zebra Swallowtail butterfly! Without paw paws, these beautiful butterflies don’t have the plant they need to raise their caterpillars.

Planting native isn’t just about pretty flowers , it’s about bringing an entire ecosystem back to your yard.

Paw Paw Trees are now available for PREORDER!

We wanted to give everyone a chance to snag one before they arrive because these sell out FAST every single time we get them. These trees are already 3 feet tall and well on their way to becoming your future fruit-producing, butterfly-supporting backyard favorite.

Happy Friday! It is hot mess express out here today with all the storm damage clean up, we have the enter side gate CLOSED! There were multiple large limbs that fall in the road that we are working on having removed today and so the EXIT SIDE with now be the ENTER SIDE. Today. So break a rule, be bad to the bone. Enter through the exit and excuse our hot mess express we are cleaning up today at the garden center. 💚

A lot of people will say all this rain must be great for a garden center it’s less work and honestly I would much rather be able to control my watering because this is where we deal with over watering issues and plants go into stress. I will say again that typically June/July we go to very shortened to no hours typically but we are staying open to renovate, clean up and get ready for the kids camps so we are low on stock but have alot still available that we are potting up daily. We also still have pineapple plants! 🍍

We are open today until 4pm! Give us some grace tho while we clean up from the storm damage.

We have been working on something big over here so excuse our dormant phase but just like a chrysalis we are emerging into our beautiful next phase. 🦋

My goal for the garden center was always community focused and those that have known me long enough knows that’s my drive. We are expanding to a community garden and expanding EVEN farther into a beautiful kids 6 week day camp program with some really cool people. After this we hope to expand it even more and make it year round.

We want to open up the little yellow house and our huge beautiful property to the whole public to enjoy at anytime during our open hours. This beautiful house has so much historical value in this county built in 1928 for anyone to come out and enjoy, even come grab a cup of coffee in our cheapo coffee maker in the little kitchen and sit on the beautiful back porch over looking the pecan orchard to find some good slow conversation.

We are having a community focused and parent meeting for the day camps plus community garden Saturday the 20th from 2pm to 3pm.
You can book classes day of or we will post the classes available day after our meeting. Classes start 6/23. These classes are day to day one lesson in one day so no kids feel left out if they skip a day. We provide snack and all waters plus a take home craft everyday , just bring a lunch. We have a full commercial cooler to store lunches. (Looking for community restaurants to randomly once a month supply lunches for the kiddos)

These kids day camps will help facilitate our dreams of being a community focused property with a foley community garden also that the kids get to learn in as well.

We want anyone to attend this meeting who may be interested in having their kiddos in this day camp we will go over the 6week curriculum, anyone interested in helping build this community garden (we have 3 acres empty need volunteers to help) anyone interested in volunteering in the kids day camps or the gardens or to help keep maintenance of the property to make this goal a reality. All volunteers are background checked.

I grew up in the era of seeing the old timers gather at the gas station smoking their ci******es inside and they had their ‘spots’, I always saw the same sort of community at hardware stores and meat + 3 restaurants. You knew their names, you knew their mama and papa, they knew yours. Magically they also knew when you got ISS that day and got a good scolding. Aside from that and not the smoking ci******es part I WANT THIS TYPE OF COMMUNITY AGAIN AND WE ARE GONNA BUILD IT! Right here at Cooper Farm in this little house that I know Voncile would LOVE and I know John and Page Sute would also be grateful to see this property come to light to be community based with open arms.

Saturday the 20th 2pm to 3pm. Come talk to us how you wanna see foley agriculture grow, community gardens or our kids day camps. This will be a meeting of the minds and we can’t build a community driven property without the community involved. So come talk to us. 💚🪴🌻
