Dear Mississippi high schools and community colleges,

It is 2026.

Please do not host another lame media day for your athletes this summer and fall.

Your seniors, your star athletes, and frankly every athlete deserve better than a half baked, Pinterest inspired, poorly executed, badly exposed excuse for a media day.

No offense to your school’s photography program or student photographers, but when it comes to highlighting your athletes, especially your seniors, it is best to let professionals handle it. Especially if parents are being asked to pay for the experience.

I’m not talking about senior banners.

I’m not talking about volume photography.

I’m talking about creating something athletes actually remember.

The photos matter. The experience matters more.

The best media days make athletes feel like the stars of their own story for a few hours. They create excitement. Energy. Pride. Memories.

So don’t do something forgettable this year.

Hire a professional who knows what they’re doing. Hire a professional who specializes in this. Whether that’s me or someone else.

And if your photographer shows up with just two lights and a white backdrop for a media day, you’ve already lost the battle.

But it’s not too late to win the war.

Let’s create something your athletes will still be talking about years from now.

Most photographers are fighting the wrong war.

They're watching AI generate images and asking if it'll take their job. AI isn't coming for the camera. It's coming for the parts of the business they've been ignoring — captions, lead response, the follow-up that turns one client into ten.

The photographers who lose the next ten years won't lose to AI. They'll lose to other photographers who used AI while they were busy being afraid of it.

Operators, not victims.

As the school year wraps up, I want to thank the programs that chose to partner with me this year, and the ones already committed for next season.

I had the opportunity to work with athletes who are now moving on to the next level, and I’m proud to have helped present them in a way that gets them seen.

I also learned a lot this year. Not every opportunity turns into a partnership, even when the value is obvious. When you offer to invest your time, your craft, and your platform into a program you care deeply about, and it’s not valued, that tells you everything you need to know about alignment.

Next year I’ll be working with a limited number of programs who see it the same way I do.

Fall is already filling up.

Not every photographer is the same and that’s a good thing. Photography is a craft, and the best results come from specialization, intention, and control of light. Photography and videography are not the same profession and photography should never be an add-on.

I’ll be taking the first part of February off to have all equipment professionally cleaned and serviced. If you’re on the fence about booking, now’s the time to start talking dates before schedules fill and maintenance is finalized.

Good photography isn’t accidental.
It’s intentional, technical, and specialized.
