New readers share favorite books, new magicians share new tricks… plus an exploration of the pawn game in chess and a good old fashioned mud hole. Tomorrow’s project - brick making!

We explored point of view (POV in meme speak) through the story of Prometheus in Greek Mythology and created artwork using real charcoal, calling back to the story of Prometheus bringing fire to humans. The results were truly amazing!

Announcing Spruce summer camps! Get hands-on time with chicks, create to your heart’s content, and explore our environment in three awesome weeks of fun and learning.

Spruce offers small group sizes for learners of all kinds! We are neurodiversity affirming and welcome kids ages 5-12 at our camps. If you sign up before May 1, you’ll save 20% on the camp fee.

Learning happens together, outdoors, through discussion, art, and play! We aim to expand our modes of exploration each week, whether we’re doing a book club or learning about Greek mythology. Grateful for time with these learners!

Learning through Pokemon? Yes! There is so much math, literacy, history, science, and culture within Pokemon card trading, the game, and the characters. We can’t wait to get started! Learners will trade cards, design their own, play the card game, and talk strategy across the season. We hope you’ll come along as we catch ‘em all.

Spruce will host an Open House on March 22 from 11am-1pm. Spring season begins April 1. 🌸🌿

It’s a process…

Learners love to work together over the day to complete large and small projects. Spruce ended our Winter season this week with a pajama and popsicle day, complete with exploding volcanoes in our dinosaur dioramas. It was a blast! 🌋

Chess Team starts in a few weeks! We’ll meet on Wednesdays from 1-2:30pm to learn openings, playing strategy, and practice playing games against friendly opponents. The season ends with a round robin tournament with prizes for the winners. ♟️

We love a good story here, and this spring, we will be hosting a themed book club and Greek mythology class.

The themed book club is designed for kids as young as 5 and will be formatted to allow for meaningful discussion and reflection about books and stories, as well as a themed art project and snack. Grow a love of reading in your learner!

Greek mythology will explore the origins of famous Greek myths, their place in culture, and how retellings can change a story. For older learners, this program will encourage close reading, interpretation, and open discussion.

These programs also come with a bonus take home element - a book of their very own! Themed book club attendees can choose a book to take home each week, while Greek mythology students will get their own copy of D’Aulaire’s Greek Myths. Expand your library this spring! 📖

Spruce Learning is offering more options for families and Learners this Spring!
