Sam the Safety Squirrel Says: When Trucks Miss the Spot, Safety Pays the Price

Hi friends. Sam here, watching the action from my usual spot here at the truck loading rack.
I see it happen more than you might think. A truck pulls in just a little too far forward. Or not quite far enough. The cage does not line up with the hatch, and suddenly folks are leaning, stretching, lifting, or stepping outside the protected area to get the job done.
When truck cages are misspotted, proper hatch access disappears. Fall protection is compromised, and the risk of a slip or misstep climbs fast.
If the cage does not align with the hatch, the safest choice is to stop and reposition the truck. If it is a common occurrence, consider lift-resist devices or tracking gangways. A few extra minutes of spotting beats a lifetime of what ifs.
Spot it right. Use the cage the way it was designed.
