Collaboration matters.

When doulas, nurses, physicians, and hospital teams come together to learn from one another, families benefit. Building relationships across the maternity care system helps create more supportive, informed, and patient-centered experiences during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

We're encouraged to see opportunities like this that foster communication, mutual respect, and shared learning among those who care for Alabama families.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this event possible. πŸ’™

Respectful maternity care isn't just about clinical outcomesβ€”it's also about how families are treated throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. πŸ’š

Green flags can look like having your questions answered, being included in decisions about your care, and feeling heard, informed, and respected.

While every experience is different, these are some signs of patient-centered, evidence-based care that can help families feel supported along the way.

πŸ’¬ What green flag would you add to this list? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Happy Father's Day to the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, father figures, and all those who show up with love and support. πŸ’™

Whether you're changing diapers, comforting a little one, cheering from the sidelines, or simply being there when it matters most, your presence makes a difference.

Today, we celebrate the many ways fathers and father figures help families thrive.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and honoring the resilience, achievements, and lasting contributions of Black communities throughout our nation's history.

As we reflect on the past, we also look ahead with hopeβ€”working toward communities where every family is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, and where all have the opportunity to thrive.

We've all heard about the "6-week postpartum checkup," but for many families, recovery doesn't end there.

Postpartum healing can continue for months as parents navigate physical recovery, emotional changes, new routines, and the transition into parenthood. Every experience is different, and there is no single timeline that defines what recovery should look like.

The goal isn't to "bounce back." It's to ensure families have the support, resources, and care they need to heal and thrive.

πŸ’¬ What do you wish more people understood about the postpartum period?

Sometimes, the most meaningful support starts with a simple conversation. πŸ’™

Checking in on a new mother, listening without judgment, and reminding her she’s not alone can make a real difference.

Maternal health includes emotional and mental well-being tooβ€”and support matters during every stage of pregnancy and postpartum.

πŸ’¬ What’s something supportive every new mother deserves to hear?
