One movement. One trail. One powerful impact across South Carolina. šŗļøšæ
The South Carolina 7 Expedition continues to be a driving force behind conversations at the SC Resilience Conferenceāand for good reason.
This annual statewide expedition follows the Palmetto Trail from the mountains to the sea, connecting communities, landscapes, and people through a shared journey. Along the way, participants experience South Carolinaās natural beauty firsthand while engaging in meaningful conversations around conservation, outdoor recreation, and resilience.
Year after year, SC7 brings together leaders, advocates, organizations, and communitiesāproving that getting outside isnāt just recreation, itās a pathway to stronger, more resilient places.
And itās happening again soonāSC7 kicks off July 1st. š
We want to help get you, your organization, and your community outside. Visit the website to learn more and get connected: https://southcarolina7.com

This Memorial Day, weāre reminded that there is no more important foundation for a sustainable and resilient future than the people we honor today. šŗšø
At the SC Resilience Conference, we talk about building stronger communities, protecting what matters, and planning for generations to comeābut none of that is possible without the sacrifices made by those who served.
Their courage, commitment, and dedication to something greater than themselves are the very principles that resilience is built on.
Today, we pause in gratitude and remembrance. ā¤ļø

What a success! The SC Resilience Conference deliveredāand this session was a standout. šš
If you werenāt in the room for Green Tools for a Blue Planet: Sustainable Outdoor Practices for a Resilient South Carolina, you truly missed an inspiring and impactful conversation.
Susan Lunt (Clemson University & Carolina Clear) and Patricia Whitener (Clemson 4-H) shared practical, easy-to-adopt ways we can all better protect the natural spaces we love. Their message was clear: small, thoughtful actions outdoors can create lasting change for our environment and our communities.
It was a powerful reminder of how stewardship, wellness, and resilience are all connected here in South Carolina.
The energy, ideas, and collaboration at this yearās conference made it one to rememberāand weāre already counting down to next year.

One of those sessions youāre still thinking about long after the conference ends. šæšļøš
Dr. Alan Todd brought a powerful and timely perspective to the SC Resilience Conference in Deconstruction and the Rise of the Material Reuse Movementāchallenging the way we think about growth, waste, and preservation in South Carolina.
As Executive Director of Conway Architectural Salvage and Heritage Project , Dr. Todd is leading the charge to keep historic building materials out of landfills and give them new lifeāprotecting our cultural heritage while promoting more sustainable building practices. His work is a reminder that resilience isnāt just about what we build next, but what we choose to save.
If you couldnāt get enough of this conversation (or missed it altogether), thereās more to explore. š

The SC Resilience Conference brought conversations to life in "Connecting the Dots: Making Resilience Relevant in Your Community"āan interactive session that challenged participants to think beyond the big picture and focus on what resilience looks like at the local level.
Led by Dr. Andrew Predmore, Mike Winiski, and Adelaide Bates of Furman Universityās Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities, this workshop explored how communities navigate both sudden shocks and ongoing stressorsāand how collaboration across sectors is key to building stronger, more sustainable futures.
Through real-world examples and hands-on discussion, attendees walked away with practical strategies to connect resilience, sustainability, and community well-being in meaningful ways.

The SC Resilience Conference is not your typical conferenceāand thatās the point! šæš£āāļø
At the SC Resilience Conference, we donāt just talk about protecting our natural resourcesāwe get outside and experience them together.
This year, we offered a Revolutionary Rivers Paddle with River Rats, giving participants the chance to connect directly with South Carolinaās waterways, highlighting exactly whatās at stake when we talk about resilience. From 1:00ā3:00 pm, attendees stepped out of the meeting room and onto the water, building a deeper appreciation for the places weāre working to protect for future generations.
In partnership with Nature at Work and the South Carolina Healthy Business Coalition, this experience brought our mission to lifeābecause resilience starts with connection.
