If your child is interested in reading to a furry friend, visit the Jayne H. Boswell Animal Shelter and become a Rescue Reader today! The program is available whenever the shelter is open, which is Tuesday through Saturday, 12 pm to 5 pm each day.

"Where in the world, and when, does this human artifact belong?"

This is the question asked by the game Anthropeum (found and shared by our Branch Manager, Rachel). Each daily game features ten artifacts from the Met's collection. For each artifact, you place a pin on a map (your best guess at where it was made) and select a time period. Points are based on how close you get on both dimensions. After your 10 rounds, you'll see your score on a distribution curve of everyone who played that day.

Jane Yolen, Author of 450 Books Including 'The Devil's Arithmetic,' Dies at 87 06/12/2026

We were incredibly sad to hear about the passing of Jane Yolen. She wrote so many books that began countless children's, most of whom are now adults, love of reading. She will be greatly missed.

Jane Yolen, Author of 450 Books Including 'The Devil's Arithmetic,' Dies at 87 Jane Yolen, author of 450 books and hundreds of poems, died on Thursday, June 11, her daughter, Heidi Stemple, said. She was 87. Among her many works, Yolen wrote 'The Devil's Arithmetic,' which was adapted into a film starring Kirsten Dunst.

Yesterday, we were astonished and amazed by Neal from Rockstar Magic of Chris & Nealβœ¨β™ οΈβ™₯️🎩 His shows were full of brilliant magic tricks, roaring laughter and applause, and fun for all ages! What a perfect kickoff to our summer reading events πŸ¦–πŸ“š
