We are now accepting applications for families with children from 0-5 years old, who live in Marion County. Children will receive 2 age-appropriate books per month and educational materials.

Public water systems are required to be compliant with regulatory drinking water standards but lead can enter drinking water if a facility’s plumbing system has lead-containing components or pipes. SC’s Lead Testing in Schools and Child Care Programs grant provides free water lead testing to schools and child care programs across the state. Participation is voluntary. South Carolina First Steps has awarded its largest funding amount in more than 15 years: $17,664,476 in grants to its network of 46 local First Steps partnerships. Approximately 10% of the funding is going to six P*e Dee counties. Combined, First Steps partners in Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg counties are getting $1,649,580, an average of $274,930 per county.
