DCS Chess Club shows out during the Piney Woods Chess Tournament on Saturday, Nov 11th. Way to go, Lions!

Coming up next for the Discovery Christian Chess Club.

Next Saturday, November 11th, we will be participating in The Piney Woods School Chess Tournament. On December 9th, we are planning to play in the St. Augustine Tournament.

Mississippi Scholastic Chess Association :: 2023 MAIS - Team & Individual Results

DCS - MAIS CHESS CLUB RESULTS (TEAM & INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS) October 26th, 2023.

Two of our DCS third graders played exceptionally, leading to a 7th-place team finish, with individual players placing 21st and 41st out of 55 in the Grades 1 - 3 Division. (4 Wins and 2 Draws)

Our DCS Elementary Team played beautifully, leading to a 5th place team finish, with individual players placing 8th, 24th, 25th, 30th, 33rd, 57th, 64th, 68th, and 74th out of 88 in the Grades 4 - 6 Division. (Amazing Job!) (19 Wins and 9 Draws)

The lone DCS Jr. High player was fantastic! By himself, he placed 23rd out of 102 in Grades 7 - 9 and led our Jr. High Team to a 14th-place finish. (There were 23 teams in this division.) (3 Wins)

DCS High School Team played strong and courageous chess in a competitive division of 10th - 12th Grades. A team of 5 competing against teams of 9 or more, the team placed 8th with individual rankings of 34th, 52nd, 56th, 62nd, and 69th out of 102 competitors. (11 Wins and 1 Draw)

The Discovery Christian School Chess Club enjoyed a day outside the classroom playing chess and competing with other schools in the MAIS 2023 Chess Tournament. Almost 350 students from 23 MAIS Independent Schools participated this year. The students played wonderfully, and we are proud of our Chess Club.

MAIS Tournament Rules for Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the Big Day! DCS will be participating in the Annual MAIS Chess Tournament. Parents, please send money if your kids want to purchase food, snacks, and meals.
