❤️ Why are we wearing red ? ❤️
Last week we celebrated National Wear Red Day. We’re rocking our red to stand together against heart disease—the No. 1 killer of women, claiming 1 in 3 lives each year. The good news? About 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable through education and healthy lifestyle changes.
Wearing red isn’t just a fashion choice; it’s a commitment to our health and a reminder to look out for our mothers, sisters, and friends.
⚠️ Know the Signs:
Heart disease doesn't always look the same for everyone. Common warning signs include:
Chest discomfort: Pressure, squeezing, or fullness in the center of the chest.
Shortness of breath: Feeling winded during daily activities or even at rest.
Pain in other areas: Discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
Other signs: Breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, lightheadedness, or extreme fatigue.

Just a friendly reminder. Ice thickness on lakes across almost all of Michigan remain too thin to be walking on. We need at least 4" of thickness for it to be considered safe for humans, and at least 12-15" for vehicles.

Many areas have fast ice, or ice that is well below 4" thick. Please be very cautious. I know it's tempting to get out and fish or enjoy snowmobiling on frozen lakes, but it's just not ready yet for most areas.

When in doubt, take a measurement.
