From the archives: How do you change the narrative of a city whose perception often precedes its experience?
For Amari Steward, Executive Director of Explore Flint & Genesee, it starts with shifting the conversation from a place of deficit to a place of potential. Earlier this year, we sat down with Steward to discuss their county-wide Brand Anthem video—a visual project designed not just to attract tourists, but to restore community pride and remind residents of what exists right in their own backyard.

The best neighbors
Going out to eat shouldn't be stressful, but for families with neurodivergent children, bright lights, loud noises, and unwelcome judgment can make traditional dining nearly impossible.
Steven and Mackenzie Brewer understand this firsthand. To create a safe, welcoming space for their own sons and the wider community, they opened 810 Munchies inside the Dort Mall. With dim lighting, no TVs, quiet kitchens, and a menu adaptable to any sensory need, the restaurant is providing a dining experience many local families have never been able to enjoy before.
