Akra ~Manlanga root fritters

Akra is made with malanga roots. Malanga is grown throughout the Caribbean , South America and Africa. It is very similar to potatoes, yet with its unique feature and texture. It is used in diverse ways in Haitian cuisine. It can be boiled, grated to make malanga fritters and many more. In Haiti, it is usually eaten as part of a Fritay (Fried delicacies) or by itself accompanied with Pikliz (cabbage relish) as pictured here.
