Accelerated Learning Academy

Last Week, Accelerated Learning Academy and Eisenhower Elementary students finished up the “Readers as Leaders” project.

They developed stronger reading skills and built relationships with 4th graders. We ended with a celebration.

Yesterday, Accelerated Learning Academy had their Annual Senior Open House.

We started with a Mental Health Fair. This was an opportunity to connect students and families to community resources as the summer approaches. We know what works for one, doesn’t work for all. A special Thanks to Genesee Health Plan, Genesee Health System, Peckham, Reach Program, Flint Community School Health Services, New Oakland Psychological and Mid Michigan Therapy Dogs🐕 !

Accelerated Learning Academy graduated 27 Seniors this year!

Attention all Football players!!

Last Thursday, Accelerated Learning Academy students attended the Annual Student MAEO conference. Throughout the year these students work on projects to present at the conference. The theme this year, “I am what I choose to become. I am not what happened to me”.

At the conference:
Each student had to pick 3 areas to enter from Interviewing, Art, Management Decision Making, Human Relations Decision making, Community Service Project, Debate and more.

Come one, come all to the greatest school there is! ALA appreciates our teachers and staff for all they do. We are celebrating them all week. Today, ALA staff received breakfast to start the day. Several students assisted with giving Teachers cupcake and expressed how they appreciate them.

ALA has won the Michigan Alternative Education Organization’s School of the Year award for 2026! Melissa Koronka, science teacher extraordinaire, was there in Traverse City to accept the award. Congratulations to the hard working staff and students for raising the bar on what teaching and learning can be for the kids of Flint! Don’t think this is the end for us; we’re just getting started!

Our ALA Leadership students have been up to something cool. Every year our students participate in the Youth MAEO conference that takes place in May. The theme this year is “I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to be.”

They created a video that was submitted to the judges that will be at the conference a couple weeks ago. We found out last week that their video was selected for the top 3.

Accelerated Learning Academy has done it again!!
