How do seem to always find ways to add value? Here's how Liz Wiseman, author of Impact Players, describes the way they show up and respond:

➡️ Instead of doing their job, they do the job that's needed.

➡️ They don't wait for direction, they step up, then step back.

➡️ When others escalate issues, they finish stronger.

➡️ Instead of sticking to what they know best, they ask and adjust.

➡️ They don't add to the burden, they make work light.

When this mindset shift happens, amazing things can happen. ✨

Did you know that EVERY leader starts on the same level?

Yep! When you take on a leadership role with a new team, you will always start on Level 1- regardless of your experience, knowledge, or passion. What happens from there is up to you.

In John C. Maxwell’s book, The 5 Levels of Leadership, he breaks down exactly what those levels look like and how leaders move ⬆️ and ⬇️. Here’s a quick summary-

LEVEL 1 – It’s all about the title. People will do what you say because you are the boss.

LEVEL 2 – It’s all about the relationship. People will start to do what you say because they want to. They begin to trust you.

LEVEL 3 – It’s all about the results. This is where the magic happens! Results are produced, momentum builds, and problems get solved because everyone knows how they can best contribute.

LEVEL 4 – It’s all about growth. Leaders move from producers to developers by investing their time, energy, money, and thinking into growing others as leaders.

LEVEL 5 – It’s all about the legacy. Level 5 leaders possess influence that goes beyond their team, organization, or even industry.

👉 Take some time to reflect on what level you are on with the individuals that you lead.

And remember…

“Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.” - John C. Maxwell

Manage up.

What does “manage up” mean?

At its simplest form, it is teaching your boss how to manage you.
