Obstacles in marketing are inevitable. While some pain points are unique to each business, others are universal. Here are some of the more prevalent ones we at LBM have discovered over the years, along with some advice on how to deal with them.
1) Lead generation: Investigate the resources available to you in order to generate high-quality leads. Industry databases, trade show exhibitor and attendance lists, association directories, newspaper and magazine advertising, internet searches, list development services, and other sources are among them. Before adding a prospect to your database or CRM, establish your criteria for qualifying them.
2) Not understanding your market: Determine where your products and services are best suited to overcome this obstacle. People should be interviewed. Find out what their issues are and what their top priorities are. Look for opportunities to help people.
3) You have little to no brand awareness: People do not purchase services or products from companies they are unfamiliar with. Make sure to use strategies that increase market visibility, credibility, and name recognition. Expand your audience via a combination of content marketing, advertising, and email campaigns, for example. To reach a larger audience, stay honest, informed, and relevant without being overly self-promotional.

Whether you’re selling a service or a product, understanding the stages of the buyer's journey is helpful to know!
In the Awareness stage, a prospective customer is expressing their desire to fulfill a need or want. Usually a problem is discovered and the customer recognizes that the problem could be solved by purchasing something, thus entering them into the awareness stage.
In the consideration stage, the prospective customer begins evaluating different options that will solve their problem. For example, if their problem is that they are hungry they will decide between fast food or a sit-down restaurant, and then evaluate different restaurants to eat at. As a company, you will want to be in a buyer's consideration stage because that means they are more likely than not to purchase from your business and it is your job to convince them to buy from you.
In the decision stage, the prospective customer makes a final choice and becomes a customer to a business that they have decided will solve their problem. This is the last stage of the buyer's journey until the customer discovers another problem that they would like to solve and then the process starts over.
