The crux point of the Deer Creek Narrows hike. This incredible place demands respect and attention while visiting, and not just because taking care while moving along the trail is a safety concern.
The Deer Creek Narrows (the chasm pictured here) is now off limits for visitation by request of the NPS and the Southern Paiute tribes due to its cultural significance.

Strangers at orientation. Friends for life.
This group came together from different places and different backgrounds. They met for the first time at their orientation in Flagstaff and spent the next 14 days running rapids, exploring side canyons, and sharing something most people never get to experience.
This photo is from their last morning on the river. All smiles.
Most AzRA trips are open expeditions, meaning the group is made up of solo travelers, families, and friends who didn't know each other when they began their adventure. By the time they reach the takeout, that changes.
That's just one of the things the Canyon does. It has a way of turning strangers into people who will remember each other for the rest of their lives.

Lunch on day one looks a little like this...
Day one of last week’s 8 Day Motor Adventure was GUSTY. When we see white caps on the river moving upstream, we can guess the winds are 30+ mph.
