🐝 Swarm № 7 Rescue! 🐝

We received a call about a swarm that had been stranded on the ground for nearly two weeks. Every day they would leave, only to return to the same spot. Something wasn’t right.
Our best guess is that their queen had a clipped wing or was otherwise injured and couldn’t fly with the swarm. Unable to follow their natural instinct to find a new home, the bees were stuck. They had even started building wax on a nearby swing set because they simply couldn’t make it anywhere else.
When we arrived, we placed a Lyson 6-frame nuc directly in front of them and gently scooped in a handful of bees. Within minutes, the magic happened. The workers picked up the queen’s scent, formed a marching line, and began filing into their new home.
What could have been the end of this colony became a second chance. Without intervention, they likely would not have survived much longer.
Sometimes a rescue isn’t pulling bees out of a wall or high up in a tree. Sometimes it’s simply being
there when a colony has run out of options.
We were their last hope.
