1926.50 — Medical services and first aid

LOI
In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, hospital, or physician, that is reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite, which is available for the treatment of injured employees, a person who has a valid certificate in first-aid training from the U.S. Bureau of Mines, the American Red Cross, or equivalent training that can be verified by documentary evidence, shall be available at the worksite to render first aid.

While the standard does not define the key term, "reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite," OSHA interprets that as requiring that emergency medical care be available no more than 3-4 minutes travel time distant from the workplace, at least in workplaces where falls, suffocation, electrocution, or amputation are possible.

I was going over some new photos of inspections from last week and dug up some old photos.
The first 4 are recent photos of a 2,000 amp service I inspected last week. We have a photo of wiring attached to upper roof decking a safety inspection with tables and chairs in front of equipment and some crummy old work.
SWIS started about 6 years ago in our small store front in Elmsford and our first company car. My first seminar in Putnam County, with 87 participants. I almost passed out when I stepped into the room and saw all those electricians.

It's nice to compare yesterdays work with new installations.

We were called in to do a FINAL INSPECTION and these are a few of the issues noted on the JOB. Can someone send me some code sections? Not you Pierre or Joey!!

A typical day in the life of an Electrical Inspector.
The first photo is a rotted Grounded Electrode Conductor, Missing a bushing for conductors greater than #4, Proper generator signage, the lug is being used as a bug, and we are missing an LB cover.

Words cannot express the pain I feel when looking at these photos.
We were asked to do an inspection for a septic system and when we went inside....... surprise. The home owner has now hired a LICENSED electrician to repair and correct the work. AMEN
