Yesterday was a blast! First, helping Courtney and friends play with natural dyes in a class with mini skeins. Then, getting to play with the leftovers while we cleaned up. Thanks Ainsley for being my helper yesterday!

FO Friday! đ
It feels like itâs been a minute since we have had a Color Me Happy finished objectâbut Linda finally finished her pillow based on the Adelphia purse pattern from ! Letâs just say the knitting got done a LOT faster than the sewing part of this projectâŠđ
The short row leaves are so fun to knit that they really keep you going to get just one more done. Linda added 10 extra stitches to the cast on to make it more of a square, with the main yarn being our naturally dyed CMH Tweed DK in Pine and Natural. She also used two different green shades of fi*****ng weight mini skeins held together (a yellow green and a darker forest green, last pic) for some parts of the leaves to add some movement and shading.
Blocking is key to getting the pillow into a square shape prior to sewing. Linda backed the knitted fabric with a natural cotton and then sewed the front piece to the blue green twill fabric back.
And who knew after 20 years the buttonhole setting on her sewing machine still works!
This pillow was a housewarming gift for Lindaâs son in San Francisco, so it was only fitting to get the buttons there at the lovely store there.
And if youâd like to give this pattern a try (highly recommended!) you can find our CMH DK Tweed in Fishers!

See you again soon Suri Silk!
Today we started packing up the studio to bring things over to the new shop
Suri silk is one of our favorites to work with. Itâs so light and soft and it makes anything you are working on very snuggly.đ„° These are, of course, all naturally dyed!
We canât wait to see it in its new home!

Something between a finished object and a work in progressâthe Adelphia pattern by , slightly modified to become a pillow!
This pattern, designed as a purse, uses simple wrap and turn in garter stitch, which is such a fun and forgiving way of doing bold, graphic patterns of stylized leaves and other shapesâcheck out more of Linneaâs patterns that incorporate this technique in shawls, hats, and all sorts of objects!
Linda added 10 stitches to make the piece more square and also used two fi*****ng yarns left over from other projects to add a mottled green shade to some of the leaves. You can see in the last photo where she used the trick of winding the two yarns around her finger to get an idea of how they would look together with the main green shade.
Next steps: block (very important to smooth out the knitted fabric), then stitch on a cotton backing before joining the front piece to a back piece which will be dark blue-green with a button closure.
Have you tried a short row piece like this? Would you like to?! Let us know if youâre interested in a class for something like this !
Pattern: Adelphia
Designer: Linnea Ornstein
Yarn: Color Me Happy naturally dyed Tweed DK in Pine and natural, and Merino/Cashmere/Nylon mini skeins in Rainforest and Sage.
