ILWU Local 23 had a great time at the 2026 Labor Notes Conference!

We covered a ton of ground, attending dozens of panels and workshops on internal organizing, building international solidarity, stewards’ rights, and much more.

Huge shoutout to ILWU No. 23 Young Workers Committee for organizing our delegation and to all the members who raised funds to send our people year after year.

Tacoma longshore workers traveled to Port Townsend yesterday to stand in solidarity with ILWU Local 51.

Our sister local, whose members also work in Port Gamble and Port Ludlow, held an informational picket to welcome ACL’s American Spirit to their port. This is the same vessel that just left Tacoma last weekend and will be returning here tomorrow.

We’re proud to support Local 51 and we’ll be back on the picket line in Tacoma tomorrow, Saturday, June 6 from 11:15 to 12:45 at 705 Dock St. Wear your union colors.

Tacoma is a union town and Port Townsend too.
