Severe weather & flash flooding possible in and across the region tonight

JUNE 27TH, 2026

2ND Alarm Residential Fire

At approximately 03:28 hours on today’s date, the Jefferson R7 Fire Protection District along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to a 1st Alarm - Residential Fire in the 2700 block of Huskey Road in unincorporated southeastern Jefferson County, MO. Upon initial dispatch, the caller advised lightning had struck the house and fire was visible.

First arriving units encountered heavy smoke from the roof of the residence and quickly located a well-involved working attic fire. All residents of the home self-evacuated safely prior to our arrival and were uninjured. Residents advised crews they were alerted by smoke detectors sounding in the home shortly after the lightning strike awoke them from sleep and called 911 when they located smoke and flames in the home.

A second alarm was struck at approximately 03:57 hours for additional manpower for suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control at approximately 05:24 hours and units cleared the scene at approximately 08:31 hours.

No firefighters sustained injuries in this incident.

This morning, just before 12:30 a.m., units from Station 2 were dispatched to Love’s Travel Center for a reported vehicle fire. While en route, responding crews were advised that a commercial vehicle was heavily involved, with flames visible from a significant distance by responding personnel.

Recognizing the advanced fire conditions, additional resources from Stations 1 and 5, along with Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District, were requested to assist.

Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire and address remaining hotspots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Great work by all personnel on scene and thank you to our mutual aid partners for their assistance. Incidents like these highlight the importance of teamwork and cooperation in serving our communities.

3rd Alarm Commercial Fire

At approximately 7:49pm on June 12th the Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District along with mutual aid companies were dispatched by Jefferson County 911 to a commercial structure fire at Buzzi Unicem. Units arrived on scene and found heavy smoke showing from the end of a belt system.

Crews deployed hundreds of feet of hose line to reach the fire from the catwalk and begin fire attack. Due to the fire occurring in an industrial high-rise more than 200 feet above ground, a second and later third alarms were requested to support the labor-intensive firefighting operations and ensure adequate firefighter rotation. The alarm was brought under control at 10:35pm

There were no reported injuries to on site staff or emergency services personnel.
