See you guys next year!
Dear friends,
We are broken-hearted to announce the cancellation of DIY Street Fair, 2020.
For 12 years we have celebrated music, art and community. Safety has always been a top priority in planning this annual event.
Although we hoped the COVID-era landscape would be different by the fall, we must concede that it would be irresponsible and inappropriate to hold this year's event with regard to public health and safety concerns for our artists, participants and community.
In the meantime, we remain committed to supporting independent and local artists. We have made a new directory page filled with past DIYSF artist friends and some new ones too. Please follow them, share and purchase from these incredibly talented people. See link in comments.
Artist application fee update: In response to the crisis, we waived application fees the first week of March and did not collect booth fees. For those artists who applied in February, your application fee will be credited to next year's event.
We look forward to September, 2021 when we can bring back the event that our artists and audience deserves.
Be kind to one another. Be well.
Love always, DIYSF Team

Today I had coffee that I did not brew myself! And let me tell you, it was fantastic. The kindness of people in Ferndale make this all a little easier. Ya’ll rock.

🖤
The DIY Street Fair launched in 2008 as a direct answer to the economic crash. Our friends & neighbors were losing their jobs. Artwork they sold on the side was now their main source of income. We decided to throw a party, invite all of our artist, musician and brewer friends to participate so we could all help each other out.
Over the next 12 years the DIYSF continued in that tradition & grew to become an epicenter of giving back to our community while celebrating those brave entrepreneurs & artists w/ the Do-It-Yourself creative spirit.
Today, we find ourselves back in that familiar starting space. This time facing a financial crash crossed w/ a frightening global health crisis--an uppercut w/ a fu***ng right hook.
The strain of squinting to put a blurry future into focus is truly exhausting. It is impossible to know what to expect, but we still have to plan in a respectful way. We want to be ready to celebrate when it’s safe to do so. Art, music, community, people--these are things worth embracing & holding tight. We have outlined 4 new features/policies to help add clarity to our event.
ELIMINATION OF APPLICATION / JURY FEE-During this time of extreme hardship, we feel that it is not appropriate to have a jury fee when it’s stressful to pay for basic necessities. We need to plan w/o burdening our peers. Please note that our high standards & rigorous jury process has not changed. For those who have already applied, if accepted we will deduct the app fee from the final balance due.
EXTENSION OF APP DATES & PAYMENT DEADLINES -see website
DISCOUNTED SECTION- We’ve added 16 new artist booths at a discounted rate. See website for details.
NEW CANCELLATION SCHEDULE- If we are forced to cancel due to global health concerns, a new refund schedule is on our website.
The DIY Street Fair was built on the foundation of helping our neighbors during hard times, giving back & celebrating our community. We hope to continue that tradition in September. We love you. Be well.
