The smallest kiddo came in yesterday. 200 grams. He was a solo and will remain that way until he’s big enough to merge with a bigger group. For now he’s camped out in an incubator and getting hydrated.

Things are leveling out a bit and we are grateful for the break. It will give us a chance to prep for the second round.

Some our squirrels have graduated to an outside enclosure for pre-release. Thank you Dave for hosting this group for us. We are excited with this success.

We had another successful release for some of our cottontails last weekend. Two that were part of this release hold a special place in our hearts. They were adults that overcame significant injures and were in long term care with us since last year.

Bus Bunny came to us after being clipped by a school bus (hence her name!) She had head trauma with significant spinning that, given time, a safe environment, and proper meds, was able to overcome. She later developed an abscess on her foot where she originally had road rash.

Butterball came to us after being found dragging a hind leg in a parking lot at the end of last year. Over time, it was clear we were not able to save the leg. She was a strong candidate for a leg amputation since her injuries were concentrated in just the one limp. Thanks to the special partnership we have with Wildside in Eaton Rapids, she had her leg removed. She was fully healed, had PT and gained her strength back to be able to be released.

We have many babies and trauma cases currently in our care. Enjoy the good and the bad we see with our bunnies every day β€οΈπŸ°β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή
