Live Wide Open is a movement to invite people to live and work in west central Minnesota. What’s your connection to west central Minnesota?

Maybe you grew up here, or have extended family here. Maybe you have a cabin on the shores of one of our many lakes, or make a yearly pilgrimage to one of our resorts or lodges to fish, hunt or recreate. When you get back in your car at the end of a vacation or visit, have you ever thought long and hard about making this place you come to for relaxation, fun or to be with family your home? To all

What does welcoming feel like?

For Simi Kasakwe-Welsch, it’s the taste of Nigerian food she shared in Glenwood, the laughter of her kids making bracelets in Starbuck, and the rhythm of Alexandria’s Global Beats & Bites.

Dive into Simi's reflections on Welcoming Week 2025 in west central Minnesota on our blog.

Thank you again to Welcoming America, Pioneer PBS, and all of the hosts who helped make Welcoming Week possible.
