Puppy Day Camp puppies worked hard this week!

Our new puppies George, Maizy Blu and Peanut all worked on the place concept.

Maverick worked on his loose leash walking foundation, finding the heel position and sitting when stopping.

Bogey practiced his recalls! He used a long line out front and worked on coming when called.

Flash worked on the settle position. Laying on his side for exam of side, belly, feet, ears, etc. is an important life skill.

Our Ringos did well today!

Ringo 1 is out low confidence and high anxiety shepherd. Today he worked on adding distractions to his training by walking out front. He worked hard and did very well!

Ringo 2 started working to establish a relationship with his trainer and work on place and sit.

We had 2 sets of field trips today at Day Train!

First we took Chevy and Wally to Magoos Pet Outlet for their first ever field trip. They both did very well in the store, even with several loud distractions at the same time.

We took Scoobs and Ted on a field trip to downtown Fenton as well, and there was a decent amount of dog and human distractions today. Both dogs did very well handling everything, and just kept on moving and enjoying their walk!

We’d like to welcome Ringo to our Day Train program! He’s a brand new addition to his family, and they described him as a rescue dog with baggage.

His new family is currently dealing anxiety with meeting new dogs, lots of barking and reactivity. They haven't been able to walk him yet, he’s very strong and all over the place on the leash.

We’re excited to help him become the best version of himself, and for well into his family and the community!

Our week 2 dogs Roxie and Oscar did great on their tasks today!

We started box work and leash walking foundation on both dogs. Both worked well for food indoors on box work, but Oscar worked better outdoors with a ball for leash walking. He’s a pretty low confidence guy, and he’s still pretty nervous indoors. But outside we brought up his excitement level with some play and he did well! Roxie worked well even with other dogs around!

We had a busy field trip to the farm store today!

Buddy, Banks and Kacey all did very well working together in the store. They ignored each other and distractions, and Banks even worked on greeting politely without jumping.

We’d like to welcome Maizy Blu to our Puppy Day Camp program! She’s here for added training and socialization, and to also work on her play biting and jumping!

Your dog isn’t giving you a hard time, he’s having a hard time.

This is a phrase we use a lot when working with clients.

One of the biggest misconceptions in dog training is thinking a dog "knows better" and is choosing to ignore you.

Reality check: your dog isn't standing there thinking, "I know she said come, but I've decided to be rebellious today.

They're thinking, "Squirrel! Smell! Bird! Mud puddle! LIFE IS AMAZING!"

Dogs repeat what works for them. If chasing the squirrel or running the fence line with the neighbor dog is more rewarding than coming when called, guess which choice they'll make?

That's why effective training isn't just about correcting unwanted behavior or handing out treats. It's about clear communication, consistent expectations, accountability, and making the right choice worth it.

Building value to your relationship is INVALUABLE!

A well trained dog isn't a dog that's afraid to make mistakes.

A well trained dog is a dog that clearly understands expectations, how to succeed/win, and how it pays off to do what you ask.

Training isn't about control — it's about creating freedom, safety, and a better relationship between you and your dog.

Now tell us... what's your dog's biggest distraction?
