Our campaign team was present at a recent community gathering where a Donald Trump piñata was displayed.

We want to be clear about where we stand.

As an Afro-Latina woman, I deeply respect Latino cultural heritage, where piñatas have a rich history as symbols of joy, faith, and celebration. At the same time, we must acknowledge that visual depictions of hanging and beating human figures evoke a painful, traumatic history of violence in Black culture and American history as a whole.

While we understand the political frustration that fuels these displays, our campaign does not condone violent symbolism or political imagery depicting harm against any individual.

We can stand firm in our political convictions while holding space for cultural sensitivity and demanding higher standards for political engagement.

Today, the Federal Way Indivisible team showed up and showed out at the South King Indivisible Alliance End of Summer Picnic!

was proud to attend in support of the unity & progressive growth our communities have made in the last decade!

From flipping 2 Republican seats in 2016 and flipping the Senate seat in 2018 to now having an Indivisible chapter of our own, focused on pro-democracy, volunteer-led grassroots efforts dedicated to saying no to fascism and building a progressive community, we are proud to continue to partner in the Progressive “fight for a future that includes us all”!
