It appears that Porch Pirates are getting so bad that the Postal Service is holding all packages at the Post Office.

To stay one step ahead of the Porch Pirates is to have all of your packages routed to the Post Office. Now, if you ask a FedEx or a UPS driver they will tell you they can’t deliver to a P.O. Box. This all depends on how you format the address. I’m going to use the Federal Way Post Office as an example.

Do you experience random drop off or no connectivity with your WiFi or, you are connected but can’t browse the web? Chances are Band Steering is the culprit.

Band Steering is a technology the “combines” your three WiFi networks into one. Yes, with any modern WiFi router or Cable Modem there are three WiFi networks. You gave your 2.4Ghz g & n and your 5.0 n & ac. The theory behind this is the further you move away from your router, Band Steering will automatically “steer” you to the 2.4Ghz band which can travel further distance and isn’t interrupted by neon lights or other obstructions. When you’re closer it will “steer” you to the faster 5.0Ghz band. Now, on some routers the two 5.0Ghz bands are combined by default and can’t be undone. So, in that case you only have two WiFi networks (2.4 and 5.0) here’s what ya do.

Uncheck band steering in your WiFi router. You may need to look up your modem or router online for the directions.

Now, you need to come up with a naming convention so you know which network is what. This is how I have mine set up.

WiFi Network Name-2.4
WiFi Network Name-5.0

WiFi Network Name-2.4 (Guest)
WiFi Network Name-5.0 (Guest)

Now, if you have a mobile device such as a tablet, laptop or phone you take all over the house, my advise is to put them on the 2.4Ghz band so you have more coverage in your home. Yes, you will lose a little bit of speed but, the coverage is worth it. If you have stationary devices such as TV or other devices, put them on the 5.0Ghz band.
