Meet Amy 💙
Like so many in our community, Amy knows the importance of having a place where Type 1 diabetes becomes the norm — not the exception. Volunteers like Amy help create the welcoming, supportive environment that makes Camp Leo and Type 1 United so meaningful for children, families, and adults living with T1D.
From camp activities to community connection, volunteers play a vital role in making these experiences possible year-round. We’re grateful for the people who continue showing up, giving back, and helping others feel seen, understood, and supported.

Camp Leo simply would not exist without our volunteers. 💙
Every summer, compassionate individuals step in to help create a safe, empowering, and unforgettable experience for children living with Type 1 diabetes. From medical professionals and students in training to counselors and activity leaders — our volunteers are the heart of this community.
We’re currently looking for:
• Camp Counselors (18+)
• Medical Volunteers (RNs, ARNPs, MDs, PharmDs, Dietitians & more)
• Professionals in Training (medical & healthcare students)
• Activity & Program Support Volunteers
If you’ve ever wanted to make a meaningful impact, this is it. Camp means the world to our children and families — and every volunteer helps make that possible.
Please share with your friends, coworkers, schools, healthcare networks, and community. Your share could help us find someone who changes a camper’s life this summer. ☀️

At Type 1 United, we’re also looking forward to an exciting summer at Camp Leo — beginning with our High School Camp this July at Black Diamond Camp in Auburn, WA. For teens living with Type 1 diabetes, camp is more than just a few days away — it’s a place where diabetes becomes the norm, friendships grow quickly, confidence builds, and community feels natural.
Summer is right around the corner, and we can’t wait to welcome campers, volunteers, and families back together again. ☀️🦁

✈️💙 The sky is no longer the limit for youth living with Type 1 Diabetes.
Join Alaska Airlines pilot and fellow T1D Joe Soter for an unforgettable day exploring the world of aviation at Alaska Airlines Aviation Day on May 30, 2026 in Renton, WA!
This free event invites youth ages 11–18 living with T1D to discover exciting careers in aviation through hands-on activities, class sessions, and real conversations with professionals across the industry. From pilots and engineers to coders, dispatchers, customer service agents, creatives, and more — the possibilities are wide open.
Before 2019, people living with type 1 diabetes weren’t permitted to fly commercially in the United States. Today, that has changed — and this event is all about showing the next generation what’s possible.
We’re excited to help share this opportunity with our T1D community and encourage youth to dream big, explore boldly, and take to the skies. 💙
