After much thought and careful consideration with my family, I have decided to withdraw from the campaign for 30th LD State Representative. Running for office while working fulltime and raising my family is a sacrifice. I am inspired by the candidates I see every day navigating those same challenges and making it work. Unfortunately it is a sacrifice my family can’t afford at this time.

The early endorsements from elected and community leaders and the support from friends and neighbors has meant the world to me.

I am fortunate to have a job at the Prosecutor’s Office that allows me to contribute daily to safer and healthier communities and I look forward to future opportunities to advocate for young families like mine, seniors, and our most vulnerable neighbors.

I am thrilled to announce that I am running for State Representative in the 30th LD!

After an outpouring of encouragement from family, friends, and community leaders including Jesse Johnson for State Representative, Elect Jamila Taylor, Claire for Senate and Mike Pellicciotti, I knew it was my time.

This community shaped who I am, and I can’t wait to continue the important work Rep. Johnson started for our district and our state making our laws fairer and more equitable, advocating for working families, and fighting for our most vulnerable neighbors.

A more formal announcement will be coming shortly but you can help me right now. I hope you will join the team and make a $30 contribution for the 30th LD! Thank you for your early support!

With very few outstanding ballots remaining to count, it's clear that though the margins are narrow, we will not be able to close the gap to win this election. While these are not the results I hoped for, I am proud that we ran a positive, solutions-based campaign.

It has been an honor to serve on the Federal Way City Council, prioritizing safe and healthy communities for every neighbor, regardless of who they are, where they are from, or how long they’ve lived in our beautiful city.

I will continue to serve, in my own way, to give back to this community that has helped shape me into the person I am today. We are all a part of the fabric of this incredibly diverse community and we all deserve to take up space here. I hope that we continue to see value in our unique stories and find a way to come together as a community.

To all my incredible endorsers, supporters, and volunteers - thank you so much for stepping up and believing in a girl from Federal Way, who cared about her community and wanted to make a difference.

As an optimistic realist, who sees what people can be on their worst days, I firmly believe that our best days are ahead of us. It’s up to each and every one of us to ensure we get there. We should all continue to become more active in this community.

To my husband and my family, I hope I made you proud. To my daughter and the other children in our community - I hope that when you grow up, you’ll see that you, too, belong in the room. And that your voice and lived experience matter. Most of all, I hope you will find a community that supports and believes in you, just as I do.

Throughout this campaign, I have been so lucky to learn from and listen to many individuals. One quote that continues to resonate with me as this election cycle comes to a close is from the late Nelson Mandela who said "I never lose. I either win or learn." And this journey was truly an incredible learning experience that I would never give up.

Thank you to my community!

What an incredible ride this campaign has been! Thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in me this campaign.

When this journey began, I'd never imagined I would be running for public office. Much less being the incumbent trying to retain my seat. I cannot tell you how much it has meant to have served the people of Federal Way. It's where I grew up, where my husband Chris and I chose to buy our home, and raise our daughter. The very same community that has helped to shape who I am.

I am so proud of the work we've done together. In this race, we've run a competitive issues-focused, positive campaign. I’ll be standing tall tonight, thankful, for the support and generosity so many of you have shown me during the past eight months.

I'm proud to have the support and sole endorsement of the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund!

As someone who was raised in Federal Way, and is now raising my own family here, I want to ensure that our city remains affordable for longtime neighbors and young families new to the area alike.

We need to consider and support a range of housing options for all incomes. Paired with increased access to transit options like the coming Sound Transit Light Rail, we'll be able to build a more vibrant downtown.

As your Councilmember, I'll continue to advocate on the City Council to push for workforce housing and more protections so seniors can afford to stay in their homes.

The countdown continues and these are our last five days to get out the vote! If you live in Federal Way, Renton or Burien, make sure you vote for these housing advocates and tell your friends, neighbors and family to do the same!! Leandra Craft Elect Renae Seam Rivera for Renton Hugo for Burien City Council Elect Sarah Moore for Burien City Council Re-Elect Krystal Marx to the Burien City Council
