Backspace is created to support community arts programming through events such as music and art shows, readings, performances, and more. The space was started to give Northwest Arkansas creatives a place to have a voice and a vision, and focuses on participatory and one-of-a-kind experiences. Hey y'all! For those of you who might not know, Backspace is no longer a place in the physical realm. It's just a place in our hearts now!
If you have reached out trying to book something with BS and no one has gotten back to you, that's why.
Perhaps folks can use the comments of this post to steer anyone looking to play a DIY show in Fayetteville in the right direction. Who wants to host house shows? Who wants to start a space and needs a hand? Discuss.

All things must pass, and after a wonderful 7 1/2 year run, it's Backspace's time to pass the torch to the next great NW Arkansas DIY venues. We have appreciated all the love and support over the years and the community that formed in our beloved little alley, but the prolonged pandemic and space repair needs cannot keep up with the cost of renting a space that runs on live events. If you're in town, we ask that you pour one out with us one last time this Sunday afternoon/evening September 12. Bring food to share, your own drinks, and fond memories of the place to sign our book with the potential to make a future zine commemorating the space. We also ask that you help us clean out the space to leave it ready for the next tenant, as well as mask and social distance, as we all do our part to help the DIY community thrive during this difficult time. Love, Backspace.
