Murphy's Law attended Run for the Robots in Lexington, KY, May 27-30. What an awesome opportunity! The team took a tour of the Toyota manufacturing plant, went to the judging room on Thursday night, and then Friday and Saturday were two solid days of matches. After a rocky start, the team was firing on all cylinders on Saturday, pulling off a close win in their final match, and finishing the event with a winning streak and a 5-4 record.

This was our first time traveling out of state and was our biggest event to date - 72 teams attended! We got to meet other teams from around the country and around the world. We came home with new ideas, new friends, and a lot of great memories. This was a great event and we are so thankful for all who helped organize and run everything

Thank you to everyone who supported Murphy's Law to make this trip a reality, especially the families that traveled with us and our amazing sponsors that helped reduce our out of pocket costs.

Last weekend Murphy's Law attended Tulsa Robotics Center's Pre-Worlds Scrimmage event. It was a great opportunity get back into competition with some of Arkansas and Oklahoma's best teams. It was an honor to be a finalist alliance captain in such an elite field of competition.

Thanks to all who worked to make this event possible, and GOOD LUCK to all the teams headed to FIRST Worlds in Houston next weekend!

Murphy's Law ( #20087) also attended the Arkansas Championship this weekend. They had big hopes for the day and did not disappoint!

The team finished 7-1 and ranked third overall in the qualification rounds. When alliance selection for the finals began, first ranked Root Negative One Robotics: FTC 9879 extended an invitation to join them as their alliance partner in the finals. Murphy's Law graciously accepted. At the end of the day, the two teams ended the day as Arkansas Champions and set a new high score for Arkansas in the championship game.

Murphy's Law also took home a trophy for the Control Award, which celebrates a team that uses sensors and software to increase their robot's functionality during gameplay with autonomous operation, improving mechanical systems with intelligent control, or using sensors to achieve better results.

Murphy's Law finished the day as the #2 team in point totals (robot game + judged awards) and is one of four teams in Arkansas that has qualified to advance to a Premier Event (specific event not yet determined).

This team has worked hard to get here, with most of the team having been together for 4 years. It has been a journey for them and we have all worked together to learn the ropes of FIRST and build the skills needed to compete at this level. It has been so rewarding to watch them learn, grow, and take ownership of this team.

Thanks to everyone who worked to make this weekend happen, especially all of the adult volunteers that dedicated their weekend to be judges, scorekeepers, referees, and to serve in so many other roles. We appreciate you!

We also want to extend another big thank you to all of our sponsors for this season. Your financial support has helped pay for registration fees, robot parts, and helped ensure that any student with a passion for robotics has access to a program where they can build those skills.

Our teams attended the Arkansas Championship this weekend and we are so proud of them! Each team deserves their own post, so stay tuned for a second post!

First up is our team of first year members, Force Quit ( #20074). This team has done amazing things this year! Each team member has really dug in and worked hard to learn a new skill. Their robot has made consistent progress throughout the season, and they have finished the year strong!

The team won 5 of 8 matches in the qualifying rounds on Saturday. Their strong performance earned them an invitation to the finals as the alliance partner of Team 31047 - Iron Patriots. Out of six alliances in the finals, the 5th seed alliance of the Iron Patriots and Force Quit beat the odds, winning three matches and advancing to the semi-finals!

Force Quit worked hard over the past few weeks to put together a portfolio for the judging sessions that took place on Friday evening. Their hard work paid off with a second place finish for the Design Award, which celebrates a team that demonstrates an understanding of industrial design principles by striking a balance between form, function, and aesthetics while meeting the needs of the season’s challenge.

This group has so much potential and we can't wait to see what each one of them does in the coming years! Congratulations Force Quit on a season to be proud of!
