Chair Massage? Check. Healthy smoothies? Check. Learning about health and wellness benefits? Check.

We’re all about employee wellness here at KBE! Our recent Wellness Fair in our Scottsdale office let our team try out 10-minute chair massage, down some wellness shots, and get the facts about KBE’s wellness benefits through our health insurance provider and others. Oh and did we say raffle prizes? It’s all part of our continued focus on supporting our employees both on the workfront and the personal front.

It’s always awesome to support amazing organizations like Girls, Inc. of Meriden !! Girls Inc. is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Since 1919, the Meriden chapter has provided vital educational programs to young girls for over 104 years more than 1,500 young girls, guiding them toward self-discovery in a safe, stable, all-girl environment. That’s a mission KBE can get behind!

On hand at the fundraising dinner were: KBE’s Andrea Comstock-Tague and Gabe Soucey, Christopher Williams and Mark Pozzi of CWA Architects, and KBE’s Matt Peacock and Kate Ramadze. KBE is currently working with CWA Architects on the City of Meriden’s ARPA Applicant Concierge and Construction program, a city-wide facilities improvement program funded through state and federal grants, to which Girls Inc. is a recipient for facility upgrades.

What a night! ABC CT’s annual membership meeting last night was so well attended and gave us the chance to catch up with many of our trade contractor partners and others.
Extra bonus for the night – KBE and our senior leadership was honored with THREE awards and recognition of our 40 years of ABC membership!

To start, CEO Mike Kolakowski and CFO Tim O’Brien were each inducted into ABC’s Beam Club, which recognizes ABC’s top membership recruiters for their commitment to growing the association. Mike is one of three individuals to ever reach the Merit Plus Level status in the Beam Club, while Tim has achieved the Beam Club Level.

We also received the Merit Cup award for the third time since 2014, which recognizes firms for their excellent leadership, commitment to continued education of employees, industry advocacy, and more.

Spring is here and the KBE team in Scottsdale took to the ball-field for a Spring Training game! It was a perfect day to watch AZ Diamondbacks vs Chicago Cubs and a great break from the office. Our youngest “employee” – Cort Darling’s son – even got an autographed game ball!

Time to tear it out! 🛠️ 🚧

Our New Valley Construction team just wrapped up a fast-paced construction schedule this weekend, installing a temporary race track inside LA Memorial Coliseum in time for the NASCAR Busch Lite Classic this past weekend. Race day went off without a hitch, even after NASCAR officials pushed up the start date a day early due to pending storms in the area.

And now it’s time to tear it all out and restore the Coliseum! Demolition will be complete by Feb, 22, 2024_, and incudes removal of safety barriers and protective coverings. The crushed concrete underlayment and asphalt will be milled on site and recycled – in fact, 99.5% of the materials and products used for this temporary installation will be repurposed and/or recycled.

KBE’s Brittney Vera and Jacey Sutton, Professional Business Developer (PBD) Sutton volunteered this past weekend to help Valley Partnership and Carrie Martin finish up a project we started in December at A New Leaf for Men in Mesa. The children who volunteered their time to paint these beautiful rocks last December will be delighted to know that their works of art have been placed in the garden. Always feels good to give back!

Finish Line! 🏁

Even with an unexpected early start to the Clash – one day early in fact! – the New Valley Construction (NVC) team had the raceway inside LA Memorial Coliseum ready to go well in advance.

On Saturday morning, Feb 3, NASCAR officials made the call to kick-off its annual Busch Light Classic Clash that evening - a day early, due to pending rains and flooding risks in LA on Sunday.

Our NVC team was ready for the challenge, and everything was in place for the start!

Congrats to the NVC team on another great finish for NASCAR – and congrats to the drivers for a terrific competition.

It was great to take part in the ABA’ s (Arizona Builders Alliance) very successful Christmas Party at Sunshine Acres in Mesa, AZ, which provides a home for children separated from their parents. For the Christmas event, each child has an individual sponsor and all gifts are wrapped by our Community Project Team. It takes a village and I am proud that KBE Building is part of this terrific organization.

This year’s event hosted 75 children, who were also able to choose from the many other toy donations which were received.

Several super heroes came to spend time with the kids, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Barbie and Ken!

We also bought back the “Nerf Gun Battle” which the kids love. We supply safety goggles for everyone and it’s the kids against the adults.

A fun time was had by all!

It has come to our attention that an individual wearing a KBE-branded yellow safety jacket has been seen on video removing a package from a private residence in Northford, CT.

We have verified that this individual is NOT an employee of our company.

We have been in touch with the Northford police to offer our assistance in whatever way we can to help them locate this individual.

But again, this individual is NOT an employee of our firm.

Precious memories were made during our annual Breakfast with Santa at the Farmington office on Saturday, December 9th! Everyone enjoyed the magic of the season with a special performance by the talented magician, Matt Matthews Magic. Santa made a grand entrance, spreading holiday cheer and personally delivering special gifts to all 45 children in attendance. We're grateful for the joy, laughter, and festive spirit shared during this event we have been hosting for the past 25+ years!
