Today, we are talking about the bar muscle-upโa high-skill movement that represents the ultimate fusion of gymnastics power and raw strength.
In CrossFit, we don't just hope you catch one; we build it through intentional progressions. It starts with learning how to transfer energy from your core to your extremities using the hollow-to-arch swing (the exact same foundation we build in our kipping pull-ups). From there, it's about developing the pressing strength to drive out of the deep dip position, heavily targeting the upper chest and triceps.
Advanced skills like this shouldn't just be thrown at you. They need to be broken down using the Tell, Show, Do, Check method:
* Tell: Explaining the mechanics and the "why."
* Show: Demonstrating the movement or drill visually.
* Do: Letting you practice the specific progression.
* Check: Coaching and correcting your form in real-time.

It is Testimony Tuesday, and today we are celebrating Adam! ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅ
Adam has been absolutely crushing his fitness goals with usโadding muscle mass and dropping body fat. But his biggest win goes way beyond the scale. Adam is currently training for a marathon and has realized firsthand just how much strength and conditioning outside of his running has aided his ability to do so successfully. ๐ฏ
Before finding us, Adam was only running and not prioritizing any strength work, which eventually led to some major injuries. After working with physical therapists and being referred to us here at CrossFit Fargo, he decided to go all in and build discipline in a whole new way. Now, he literally runs to the gym, lifts heavy weights with us, and runs home! ๐๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
Adamโs journey is a perfect example of why we need a constantly varied approach to our fitness. If you want to be specifically successful and prevent injuryโnot just in sport, but in lifeโyou have to build the structural strength to support your engine.
